Extra DVD to iPhone Ripper is a DVD ripper for Windows. It allows you to rip your DVD movies and convert them to the two formats that can be played natively by the iPhone: MPEG-4 and H.264. These formats are very similar and both offer great quality and compression. Extra DVD to iPhone Ripper has quite a few conversion profiles, half of which use H.264 and the other half MPEG-4. You can find those under the "Output Profile" drop-down menu. These profiles vary in the video bitrate that they offer and the video resolution. The highest available resolution is 640x480, which is great if you use your iPhone's TV out feature.
Graphically, this ripper looks quite good. It has a nice background with the two Clownfish that were used as background by the iPhone 3G when it first was released. The conversion settings are at the right part of the screen, but I couldn't find a way to change them other than selecting another profile.
In terms of performance, Extra DVD to iPhone Ripper seems to work well, and at a good speed. The only thing that I don't like is that you can't choose what titles you want to rip. The ripper just starts playing the DVD movie and you have to "record" it like you would with a VHS.
